-Echoes From Oblivion
It's really hard to review a band who you happen to know personally. Think about that for a second, if you will. A group of guys, friends, brothers. What if I didn't like the song? What if this was a negative review? Echoes From Oblivion is a metal band from Indiana. I know a couple of the members, and have had the opportunity to listen to some very early demos. However, the band has now released two singles. The one I have chosen to review is "Back Against The Wall". The track starts off with an orchestral arrangement. This blends really well with the opening moments of the song. The song, to some, may seem fairly simple upon first glance. However, when you pick apart the structure, it is a beautifully designed rhythm machine. The lead guitar in the chorus is phenomenal, and the vocalist really gets to shine. The music doesn't overpower the vocals, and vice versa. The production is actually very smooth, and easy to listen to. Overall, this is a very fitting song for a single, and should be well received when the band plays it live. Overall, I give this song an 8/10. If you like metal, if you like local metal, you will love this band! EFO Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EchoesFromOblivionIndiana/ -Slipknot It is an exciting time to be a maggot! The long awaited new Slipknot album is coming out later this year, and the band generously gave us a single last year. The song is called "All Out Life". Since then, fans of the band have been buzzing with excitement. Just the other day, the band released a small teaser that seemed to hint at a reveal coming soon. Many assumed that it was new masks. After all, Slipknot is performing on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow (May 17th), so it would be natural for them to perform in new masks, as this is their first show back in roughly three years. A countdown was launched for today, and that countdown ended about an hour ago. So, what was the hype for today? It was indeed the new masks, but similar to the reveal from their 5th album, ".5 : The Gray Chapter", the masks were revealed in a new music video! The video was fittingly creepy, and the masks were incredible, most notably, the bassist's new mask. The new single is called "Unsainted". The song is just absolutely stunning. Perfect production and all! The track starts out with a choir, which is quickly joined by Corey Taylor. As the guitars and drums kick in, you can tell very quickly that this will be a crushing track. My advice to listeners is to listen to the song kind of low at first so you can hear all of the different parts. There's so much to Unsainted, it truly is like a web. The chorus will most definitely be chanted by fans live. Corey's voice is incredible as always, the guitar parts are incredible, and everyone has a chance to shine in this song. In my opinion, this single is better than All Out Life. It has the same brutality, mixed with the sing-a-long chorus. This song is a strong 9/10 Unsainted Official Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpATBBRajP8
